About Sherrie Winstead

Sherrie Winstead I am a 66-year-old Catholic Christian; Scotch/Irish/English woman who has been taking pictures pretty much my whole life. Whereas I have had no formal training in photography, I have had a lifetime of training with my father who was a professional photographer and owner of Southeastern Photo Service, which I took over after he passed away in 1975.

Other than photography, one of my favorite interests is painting/writing/praying Catholic Icons and I do have formal training. My website can be found at sherriewinstead.com. The name of my business is Unique Catholic Icons by Artist, Sherrie Winstead. Photos of my Icons can be purchased here or through my website, or you can order an Icon of your favorite Saint for yourself, a friend/relative for a Confirmation gift, for a new Catholic Deacon, or Priest. My prices vary according to size & details of the Icon.

Since having taken over the business, I have expanded my knowledge with online tutorials, as well as the use of Digital equipment and software such as Photoshop, Movie Maker, Canon Photo Pro, Microsoft Digital Pro, Adobe Photo Deluxe Pro, and Digital Photo Pro.

I will take pictures of and write about anything, but I do have a line I will not cross as far as subject matter. I am a proud and happy Catholic Christian and love my Lord and Savior with all my heart. He gets the glory for all the photos I take and for the photographic talent and artistic talent He has given me. My favorite Bible passage is John 3:16, which says, 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.'

My favorite subject matter is Catholic Church's, Landscapes, Wildlife, Weddings, Birthdays, and Events; I have experience in all of the above. I love to travel, and write about my travels, and the photos I take. If the money's right, I will go anywhere you ask me to within the boundaries of these United States, Scotland/Ireland, and the Holy Land. Photojournalism is another of my interests.

My father started me out with a little Kodak 110 Instamatic and from there; at about the age of 17, I graduated to a Canon 35mm SLR that I still have. After my father died, I got his Yashica-Matt 120 TLR which I Loved and took with me when I went overseas to Iran in 1975, Greece and Egypt in 1976.

I went professional in 2000 when I took wedding pictures for my ex- husband's, bosses daughter. Since then I have done two other weddings, 4 birthdays, two horse shows, one fundraiser, free, for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Augusta, GA. and one-50th Anniversary for my sister and brother-in-law in Dallas, GA. Also took pictures for the Tybee Island Pirate fest and various Fourth of July and Memorial Day events.

I am presently living in Jasper, GA., which is in the beautiful north GA. mountains; the opportunities are endless as far as photographic material. The mountains are an inspiration to photograph, write about, paint and the people are friendly and very helpful. I was actually born not far from here so I consider this my home.

If you think I have the skills you are looking for, please give me a call or text at 770-893-7072 I do not usually answer unknown calls so if I don't answer, just leave a message and I will call you back; or email me at chacota55@gmail.com, uniquecatholicicons@sherriewinstead, or leave me a message on my website.

Thank you very much for viewing my photos/Icons. Hope you have enjoyed your stay and come again soon as I will probably be uploading more in the near future. May God send out many Blessings in everyone's artistic endeavors.
